It’s not often that we get enquiries from San Francisco, but that’s exactly what happened a few months ago.

We took a call from a prospective tenant, Sarah, looking for a unit in which to set up a pottery studio and teaching space for her new business. Based at that point in San Francisco, Sarah had been inspired by her local pottery workshop and wanted to set up a similar business in the UK, close to where she had grown up.

Acting for Compton Estates, Oliver Brookes arranged a video viewing of several units on the Castle Ashby Estate which might be suitable. The quiet location within the beautiful setting of the estate and the natural light levels in the units made them ideal for Sarah’s purposes.

“With the internet, it’s easy to research possible units long distance, but arranging viewings is impossible!” explains Sarah.

“The video viewing was ideal as it meant that I could get a real sense of the space. Oliver Brookes was very helpful in helping me to get all the details sorted out while I was in San Francisco, and the process all came together so that I could take occupation when I returned from the States late autumn last year.”

Swanspool Ceramics opened officially on 16th January and offers both hand building and wheel throwing pottery courses for all abilities. Studio space is also available for those who want to use the facilities but don’t need tuition.

There are currently a couple of spaces available in the beginners pottery classes so if you fancy a relaxing and stress busting activity, give Sarah a call on 01604 968533.
